1.Check your taps:

2. Visual Inspection:
It can be hard to tell if you have a water leak in pipes hidden by walls or floors. Check your walls and ceilings for any of the following tell-tale signs of a water leak in your home:
- Bubbling or peeling
- Discolouration
- Mould or mildew
- Moisture or dampness
Don’t forget to check your wardrobes or cabinets as they too can give you hints. Again, check for:
- Warping
- Mould or mildew
- Rot and deterioration
Top Tip! – Don’t forget about the pipes in your attic. Make sure to check your insulation for mould.
3. Keep your pipes well maintained:
As with anything, maintenance is key. Keep your drains unclogged and don’t use corrosive cleaners. Never pour boiling water down the sink; your kitchen sink’s PVC pipes with thank you for it. Keep and eye on trees growing near your pipes as their roots could grow into your pipes.
4. Shower leaks:
Not every water leak is due to faulty pipes. Some can be caused from water getting past your shower door or curtain. Over time the floor tiles could loosen or even go through the floor dripping into a room below. Check for:
- Loose tiles near your shower or bath
- Pools of water on the floor after a shower
- Mould on the wall or floor
- Holes in the caulk between the floor or wall and shower or bath
